Growing to a length of 10 inches in the wild, the Acanthurus achilles or Achilles Tang is one of the more rewarding Tangs to keep. It requires plenty of swimming space and a lot of water movement to feel at home. It is an aggressive Tang that should be kept singly and not with other "nervous" swimmers. Its diet should consist of vegetable-based prepared foods and fresh zucchini, broccoli and spirulina. It is a good idea to also supplement with a vitamin solution such as Selcon to avoid Head and Lateral Line Erosion. Generally a "reef safe" fish, this somewhat demanding fish can be worth the effort. Like all Tangs, it is best to quarantine this fish before introducing to a display aquarium.
