The Black Volitan Lion, known as the Red Firefish has very long pectoral and dorsal fins. Its body is covered with red to black bands on a pale background. Adults often have white spots along the lateral line. A tentacle is usually present above both eyes. The tentacle is variable in size and shape. This fish likes to be provided with ledges, caves, or crevices where they can hang out during the day. These fish prefer to be kept only one per tank. These fish are nocturnal and prefer to hunt during nighttime. Their diet may consist of Chopped beef heart which is readily accepted while favorite foods include live fish, fish meat, prawns and most all types of worms.
