The Blastomussa Coral (Merleti sp) round discs come in a variety of colors and combination of colors including red, blue, and green. It does well in an established reef aquarium and is a moderately hardy coral. A low water current with a moderate light level will make a good home for this Coral. It is not aggressive, and does not have long sweeper tentacles, so it will not harem other peaceful corals or invertebrates. The Merleti sp, will benefit from the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.
The Blastomussa Coral (Merleti sp) body contains the symbiotic algae zooxanthellae from which it receives the majority of its nutritional food sores through photosynthesis. It does not require additional plankton to maintain its health. But it will feed on zooplankton and phytoplankton foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.
