Red Lip Blenny (Ophioblennius atlanticus) is dark brown anteriorly and lighter posteriorly. The lips are reddish and there are often red highlights on the fins. Red Lip Blenny spends most of its time sitting on the substrate. It does best if the aquarium that has healthy microalgae growth. It is one of the most aggressive of the blennies and will chase and nip bottom-dwelling fishes that enter its territory. It has fang-like, rear canines that are used in territorial defense. Keep only one per tank, unless your aquarium is very large.
The Barnacle Blenny is carnivorous, so it should be offered meaty foods such as chopped frozen krill, clam or squid, and frozen vitamin-enriched Mysis shrimp, brine shrimp. Also known as: Atlantic Fanged Blenny, Lipstick blenny, Redlip Blenny.
