Blue Mushroom (Actinodiscus sp.) has a stem base with a round like mushroom shape. This variety is Blue in color. The Actinodiscus is a hardy and easy to maintain. In general, they need a medium light level, and should be placed lower in the aquarium if the light intensity is high. The Blue Mushroom prefer a low to medium water flow in the aquarium, They are semi-aggressive and require adequate space between themselves and other corals. For continued good health, it will also require the addition of iodine, strontium, and other trace elements to the water. The symbiotic algae zooxanthellae hosted within it provides some of its nutritional requirements from the light process of photosynthesis. You should feed your Mushroom micro-plankton, Cyclop-eeze, baby brine shrimp, Mysis Shrimp or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates. Give your Blue Mushroom Actinodiscus sp. two to three days to fully open up after acclimation. Each ships with several individual mushrooms attached to several small rocks or lose. Also known as: Blue Mushroom Anemones, Blue Disc Anemones. NOTE, Blue Mushrooms vary in coloration. This can be dependent on the individual specimen itself, as well as the Kelvin rating of the lighting system used on your reef aquarium. Please expect some diversity in coloration.
