The Catalina Goby (Lythrypnus dalli) has an red-orange body with patches of blue on the head and face, and lighter blue vertical stripes on the front half of the body. The Blue Banded Goby is a great aquarium choice for the non-aggressive, community aquarium - either fish-only or reef. This fish displays no aggression toward other fish, corals, or invertebrates, but care should be taken to ensure that other species do not pick on it. With a maximum length of between 2 and 3 inches, its size makes it perfect for large and for small aquariums. Groups of Catalina Gobies typically do fine, especially if given plenty of room. This species has a somewhat elongated dorsal ray fin that many other Goby family members also display. It will accept a variety of foods including brine shrimp and bloodworms, and will typically accept flake food fairly easily. NOTE these is a cool water fish. It will not do well in temperatures over 72 degrees F. Also known as: Blue Banded Goby
