product description

Chainlink Moray eel (Echidna catenata) is one of the smaller of the eels that is a hardy choice for a fish only or eel only tank. They will receive other Chain Links with interest but as long as of the same size problems are seldom in a large, long tank with rock work. Tanks that have plenty of caves, crevices and places to hide will make better homes. This eel will not bother fish that are bigger than the eel or fish that have there own defenses that makes Rock fish and Lion fish good tank mates. Heavy protein skimming is a must and will help with excess food. Activated Carbon will help with water quality also. These guys will eat anything that is meaty and fresh. Squid, Octopus and Conch are the most accepted forms of food. Please do not feed these guys with your hand they will bite! Use tongs or a feeding stick and watch out with these guys sometimes they can be a little greedy and take food and not eat it so watch closely. The Chain Moray Eel requires 2 or 3 live meals (grass shrimp, fiddler crabs) per week. If it does not eat at first, try impaling some food, such as live or frozen fish, krill, shrimp, or crustacean flesh, on a feeder stick. Also known as Chainlink Moray, Chain Moray
