product description

Humu Picasso Trigger, Rhinecanthus aculeatus, commonly comes from the Red Sea, Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is also known as the Lagoon, Painted, Picasso, Prickly and White Banded Triggerfish, and Humuhumu nukunuku a puaa in Hawaii. This fish is a member of the family Balistidae and was named by Linnaeus, 1758. There are no distinguishing differences between males and females. Triggerfish are extremely hardy fish, therefore they are great for those who are just starting in the hobby. Members of the genus Rhinecanthus are not quite as aggressive as other triggers are, making them a great addition in a medium to large fish only aquarium. Multiple specimens may be kept together with caution, but keep in mind that they are capable of growing to be 10 inches. Triggers are not the type of fish one would add to a reef tank, due to their eating habits. Huma's should be offered a variety of carnivore preparations as well as pieces of squid and krill, soaked in a vitamin supplement.
