Indigo Hamlet is a beautiful, extremely hardy fish found in US waters that makes a great addition to a fish only aquarium. This fish of incredible beauty is a deep blue-purple color with five wide, lighter colored vertical bands of varying widths. In actinic lighting, it is truly a stand-out fish. A relative of the Basslet family, Hamlets are rarely assertive toward other species and, if introduced simultaneously, make an attractive fish when kept in groups. With the possible exception of ornamental shrimp, the Indigo Hamlet should not be expected to bother fellow aquarium inhabitants. Growing to a maximum home aquarium size of around five inches, Hamlets work well in medium and larger-sized aquariums. While smaller specimens easily adapt to aquarium life, some larger specimens may be hesitant to begin to feed. Use of appetite stimulating products such as Garlic Guard may help the adjustment to aquarium food.
